Meet Lou Abiel, LPC

A good therapist must be skilled at combining different therapy styles to meet the client's needs. Compassion and respect for the client are essential to a successful recovery.

The way we feel as adults is a reflection of what happened to us as children. It only takes a few seconds to hurt someone, but it takes years to repair the damage. It is vital to look into the past because this is where we can find the answers as to why we are the way we are and why we feel the way we do; it’s the root of our beliefs, habits, and emotional patterns/behavior. The next step to healing is to work toward making peace with your past so it won’t disturb your present. No one is in charge of your happiness except you!

I enjoy working with teens and families, using mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Mediation facilitates communication between people in a safe, neutral, and confidential setting. When counseling and mediation are combined, they can preserve, improve, and repair relationships among parents and children, spouses, and siblings.

I have worked with clients who are going through a divorce and others who are recovering from a divorce. I have three years of prelaw education, which enables me to understand the emotions a person may be experiencing during a divorce. I am knowledgeable of the loops, the unfairness, and the difficulties that encompass the divorce process.

Whychoose

Safe & Confidential

We, as therapists, are held to high ethical standards; one of them is confidentiality! Just like in Las Vegas, what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas. What you said in a counseling room stays private. There are some exceptions that will be discussed during our first sessions.

Whychoose

Non-Judgmental Support

Here at The Power to be Whole, we validate your feelings, experiences, and opinions, and we accept the client unconditionally. It is a safe environment to be yourself and express yourself.

Whychoose

Culturally Competent

We welcome your faith, values, beliefs, who you are, and what is important to you! We understand not everybody is the same, thinks the same, or acts the same, and that is alright! We strive to work with you, not to change you, but to enhance you.

Whychoose

Collaborative Approach

Here at the Power to be Whole, we enter into a partnership with our clients. We explore the challenges in your life from different angles, such as your values and feelings. Where you are now and where you would like to see yourself 2, 5, and 10 years from now. The relationship must be honest and respectful; there is no room for judging.
